...based on the next generation Chevy Spark. Should Buick get it?
I did some research, and in case you wonder who the fuck is Karl.
He was Adam Opel's oldest son.
Will be fun to see what name they will pick next, maybe the open Nazi, Wilhelm?
It is interesting to know, as Wilhelm was a bit like Henry Ford,
Wilhelm Opel, who became known as Wilhelm von Opel after he was granted nobility in 1917, is credited for !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to the German car industry. Given that fact, and the fact that he was a fan of the Nazi party who he provided to, we can draw a little line between him, and the old man, Ford.
Now we need to wait until Ford builds a car, named Henry.

Extremely unpopular opinion incoming.
.
National Socialism wasn't all that bad. Yes there was the war and the Anschluss and the Holocaust. But it rebuilt the German economy, people were relatively happy, they built the KDF Wagen which would later be known as the Volkswagen. If the war hadn't started and these promises of the KDF had been true just how amazing would 1940's Germany be? Sounded like a nice place. No I'm not a Nazi but I'm fascinated by that period in German history.

I'm fascinated by that period in German history as well, but in a different way. It wasn't just the war that was problematic, it was the extreme nationalism, the utter lack of democracy and free speech and, let us not forget, the annihilation of whoever they considered the enemy or whoever they considered not worthy. Jews, gypsies, gay people, socialists, communists and even the mentally handicapped. They were all horribly mistreated (before the war) and eventually killed.

It's too bad I don't speak that much German. The grandmother of my (German) girlfriend was born in 1921, so she experienced quite a lot of it all. Sadly she's not really the type of person to have an actual conversation with beyond her home made pies, the condition of the weather or the look of clothing. My own two surviving grandparents (1925 and 1928) are already a bit younger and aren't German, so their experience is very different.

"The Viva is scheduled to receive its public debut at the Geneva motor show next year. The car will be known as the Opel Karl in Europe."
